Design in Mental Health Conference May 2015: Alex Caruso has been formally invited to speak
The Design in Mental Health Conference Committee have formally invited Alex Caruso from ACA+I to present their approved paper – “Emotions’ Design: A Journey to Recovery” alongside Andrew Frankel-Caine.
The Design in Mental Health Conference promotes collaboration between professionals to deliver the next generation of mental health facilities. The exhibition is a chance for professionals and suppliers to talk openly about day-to-day operational issues, and work together to develop new products and services that offer genuine solutions to long-term problems.
Alex will lead an open debate between himself, an Architect and Andrew Frankel-Caine, a Senior Mental Health Clinician, around the journey of places and emotions, which are critical for the service users to move from social exclusion to ordinary community living.
The debate will explore the light and impalpable nature of emotions using elements of design to create a balanced environment which can help people to recover. Their solution-focused co-design approach will demonstrate that “one size fits all” is not applicable and an accurate understanding of the patient groups is required to achieve a successful healthcare outcome.
