Building Success – A Year in Review

As we bid farewell to another year, the ACA reflects on our journey over the past year, and what a year it has been!

We have much to be proud of  in 2023.  For instance, we are “World Design Award” Winners and were finalists for the Hull Live Business Awards and the Northern Design Awards!

Not only, we have achieved a 100% success rate on first time planning approval for all of our projects!

Despite challenges, our team has embraced creativity, innovation and resilience to deliver exceptional projects for our clients.

Projects

At the heart of our success lies the dedication of our team and the satisfaction of our clients.

The past year has seen us forge stronger connections with clients, turning our creative visions into sustainable, user-friendly spaces.

In addition, sustainable materials and energy efficient solutions are incorporated in to all of our designs.

For example, our design for a state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre, one of the first in the country, is currently on site!

Technology

In the ever evolving landscape of architecture, ACA is harnessing the power of technology to enhance, creativity, efficiency and collaboration.

Using virtual reality technology, we can provide immersive client presentations.  Virtual walkthroughs enable  a realistic exploration of spaces before construction begins.

Social Responsibility

ACA has continued to actively engage with the community, participating in local initiatives, workshops and educational programs.

We support local charities such as, Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University and Run With It.

Additionally, we have also sponsored two awards in partnership with our local NHS Trusts:

The awards are held in recognition of the NHS employees’ dedication and hard work.

Guest Appearances

Alessandro Caruso, Director at ACA has attended two events as a guest speaker this year.  He gave a presentation at Lincoln University for their careers day, to inspire potential architecture students.

Later in the year, he was a speaker at the Ecophon International Acoustics Seminar in Sweden, where he presented ‘Shaping a Vibrant Space’.

Work experience

Embarking on a career in architecture is an exciting journey and at ACA we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of creative minds.

This year we have already worked with 10 students from local schools to provide them with a hands on glimpse into the world of innovative design and real world projects.

We also had a visit from an overseas PhD student, Silvia Mangilli. Silvia has written her PhD thesis about care for people with dementia.

It was important for Silvia to understand the building design process in the UK compared to Italy. We hope to continue to work with Silvia in the future.

Team Building

At ACA, we recognise the importance of having a cohesive and collaborative team  so we make sure that we all get together socially.

These occasions provide opportunities to celebrate our team spirit and foster a vibrant work culture. They also bring out our competitive side as you can see below.

Personal Development

Investing in the growth and wellbeing of each of our team members is important for ACA.

Client Services Director, Amelia Caruso, is leading the way by attending a Women Leadership Accelerator programme at Hull University. On completion of the programme, Amelia will gain a CMI certificate in Leadership and Management.

Our Interior Designer, Sonia, has not only completed her Project Management Apprenticeship, but also training on the RIBA approved “Intersection of Dementia + Design” at the University of Sterling.

Our team has also completed over 25 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions each throughout 2023 and we are already planning for 2024.

Awards

ACA were finalists at the Hull Live Business Awards and also at the Northern Design Awards!

We are also winners of the prestigious World Design Awards for our design of the £19.4 million Community Diagnostic Centre in Scunthorpe

Sonia was also a finalist for Apprentice of the Year in the Hull and East Yorkshire People in Business Awards awards (PIBA).

Professional Certification

ACA takes pride in the significant strides we have made in obtaining professional certifications.

We have maintained ISO 9001, Constructionline Gold and Acclaim Health and Safety accreditation.

This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, reflecting our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Such accreditations increase client trust and satisfaction. Projects completed within the guidelines of recognised standards mean we not only meet client expectations but exceed them.

The Year Ahead

As we step into the new year, ACA remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of architectural excellence.  And, we await the opportunities that 2024 will bring.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey with ACA. Here’s to another year of architectural brilliance.
