Maister Lodge Hull

Project Specifications

Location: Hull, East Yorkshire

Client: Humber NHS Foundation Trust

Year: 2017

Status: Complete

Project Type: Refurbishment

Project Value: £500,000

Project Scope

Maister Lodge Hull – Care Service

ACA has provided a refurbishment solution for Maister Lodge, an inpatient care service unit for older people that provides a comprehensive care service to residents who are experiencing mental health problems.

Working within the existing fabric of the building, ACA re-designed the layout with Dementia-friendly principles in mind and provided an environment that promotes the ability to function independently. The design enhances the emotional and psychological well-being of the inpatients. The residential ‘pods’ are provided with a central meeting space and communal facilities that are integrated within multi-sensory walking paths to promote social interaction. The design is carefully considered to subtly yet clearly introduce way-finding solutions that aid inpatients with orientation and successful care service.

What Our Client Says

“For me, the most noticeable improvement has been the much enhanced light and the brighter colours. The environment feels so much warmer and therapeutic for the patients, while the staff now really enjoy working here.”

Jo Inglis - Inpatient Care Service Unit Manager, Humber NHS Foundation Trust
