Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust (NLAG) has appointed ACA to design a new build Community Diagnostic Centre.

In fact, the state-of-the-art building will better meet the needs of patients in Scunthorpe town centre.

Moreover, the proposed Centre is a significant step towards improving access to diagnostic services for the people in the area.

The Brief – Community Diagnostic Centre

Principally, the aim is to produce a purpose-built Community Diagnostic Centre providing a range of diagnostic services, including MRI and CT scanners, ultrasound, X-rays and blood tests.

The Design

Our design focuses on providing healthcare comforts and clinical excellence to benefit the patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing.

Interestingly, the concept takes inspiration from the wave silhouettes of the Ultra-sound tissue harmonic imaging.  For instance, the architectural lines and curves lead the sight to a tree on the terrace balancing on the cantilever.

The ultra-sound waves are the simplest from of diagnostic waves in detecting the birth of a new life.

Landscaping

The design (including timber cladding and external planters) provides a life-enhancing environment, which stimulates the building users’ senses.

In conclusion, the final result is a unique and contemporary building, respectful of its surroundings and purpose.
