Alex worked closely with City Care to develop a Part-new-build and part-refurbishment for an existing Health Centre on Morrill Street, Hull. The project involved meeting the future needs of two practices and community services, while still utilising the same site. It was a fine balancing act, but one where all parties worked together within the new commissioning landscape to produce a building that is fit for the future.

The £3.5m Health Centre Development was delivered in four phases, providing space for two GP practices and for Community Healthcare Services. The design of the building allowed for rooms to be multi-purpose and easily adaptable for the future.

The approach involved improving the human experience using a combination recognisable and welcoming spaces, whilst at the same time giving the impression that they are also spaces where people can relax.

The buildings contemporary approach and future proofing strategy saw it be featured in ‘building better healthcare publication’ in September 2013.

“I have found ACA+I to be truly open and collaborative in their approach and have been particularly impressed in how they have managed and delivered the vision for a complex programme of services whilst combining it with a comprehensive brief development process resulting in a building which fully reflects the physical needs of the end users.”
