The Hull and East Yorkshire Business Board

Cllr Mike Ross and Cllr Anne Handley recently welcomed members of the Hull and East Yorkshire Business Board at its inaugural meeting, where decided to appoint a Chair during their next meeting in December.

Hull City Council Leader, Councillor Mike Ross, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council Leader, Councillor Anne Handley, will collaborate with the Hull and East Yorkshire Business Board to ensure the business community has a strong voice in regional decision-making.

The creation of the authority was approved by the Government in September, paving the way for a mayoral election in May 2025.

Councillor Ross highlighted the significance of the Board’s formation, emphasising its role in unlocking major investments and shaping new economic strategies.

Councillor Handley echoed these sentiments and underscored the board’s pivotal role in driving the region’s economic growth and maximising the opportunities provided by devolution. She said “We’re looking forward to the benefits of devolution enabling the region to thrive, with the help of the Board’s expertise and guidance.”

The Hull and East Yorkshire Business Board is one of two new strategic advisory groups, alongside a Skills Board, which will support the governance framework of the Hull and East Yorkshire region.
