Hotel Room Refurbishment, Sicily

Client: Mare Nostrum
Location: Pozzallo, Sicily

Status: Complete
Project Type: Interior Design Refurbishment
Project Value: £20k

ACA completed a feasibility study for a community pavilion design in Long Riston.

The ACA design team has created a hotel room refurbishment of one of the rooms at Hotel Mare Nostrum in Pozzallo, Sicily. In particular, the design introduces an authentic feel of Sicily into the bedroom, to provide a cultural association of the Italian island.

Colour Theme
Indeed the fishing town of Pozzallo has boasted the Blue Flag Award since 2002, due to the clarity of the sea and coastal quality. Therefore the selected colour theme focuses on turquoise and a sandy colour.

Layout
Furthermore, the hotel room refurbishment area includes a separate corridor, a bathroom and 3 beds.

Corridor
To illustrate, the design of the artwork is a wall painting reflecting the Torre Cabrera in Pozzallo. Furthermore, the existing ceiling lighting remains the same, yet additional LED lighting above the artwork will highlight the painting. Moreover, the existing Terrazzo flooring remains the same, with the added touch of turquoise rug to connect with the artwork. The walls will be painted in a sandy colour to contrast with the turquoise artwork.

Bedroom
Once again, the walls will be painted in a sandy colour to complement the corridor feel. Similarly, the existing Terrazzo flooring remains the same, with an additional turquoise rug. Wooden panels will be applied above the beds in combination with another painting. The painting represents a boat floating on the sea in Sicily. Thus, the circular shape of the artwork represents looking through binoculars onto the boat.

“Alex and his team paid attention to every detail to produce a high-quality environment. We required creativity and ACA has delivered.”
