ACA sensitively designed a modern and refreshing extra care apartment. Overall, the design team tailored the apartment to aid couples, where one of them may be experiencing early-onset symptoms of Dementia or similar.
Importantly, the design takes into consideration the rich, fulfilling lives that people have experienced, thus providing a respectful and dignified place to live. In fact, Sunderland is full of culture and art. Consequently, we commissioned a local artist to create pieces to be installed to create visual reminders and trigger memories.
A thoughtful selection of materials provides a calming atmosphere.
Furthermore, the color selection and contrasts of furniture and equipment with different functions aid the day-to-day obstacles people may experience.
Moreover, color selections for the extra care apartment take inspiration from iconic paintings of the local surroundings. Hence, floral prints on curtains provide an extra element of visual stimulation.
