ACA has produced a design for student accommodation in Hull on behalf of Kexgill, a modern and forward-thinking student accommodation provider. The scheme proposes to regenerate redundant land in-between some student accommodation in Hull and the Hull University campus. The project will improve the student experience and contribute towards the regeneration of the area.

This scheme provides a safer and more sociable environment whilst creating a pragmatic use of space. The use of bamboo ‘screens’ will provide an element of privacy to the student accommodation, whilst creating a new ‘front’ to the houses. The scheme uses natural materials where possible, using trees to create a more natural and soothing environment. The illumination of passageways and facades encourage a more social atmosphere and provide a safer environment. Circular benches at meeting points encourage social places for the students to meet on the way to or on the way back from University.

“I have found that Alex Caruso and the practice ACA Associates understand the complex requirements of the student accommodation industry. This has been particularly evident in their creation of tenant friendly designs putting the student experience first. Validation of this ethos was received during the early part of 2017 with their designs gaining national recognition in the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors awards category “Hull University Quarter” best residential scheme in Yorkshire, finalist.”
