Health Care Architecture – Diabetes Centre Progress!

ACA is excited to report the Allam Diabetes Centre progress on site!

Project Background – The Need For Health Care Architecture

ACA has an excellent and long-term relationship with  Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust which governs Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI).  So, thanks to our specialist knowledge in healthcare architecture, the Trust commissioned ACA to design the stunning £6m landmark project. Moreover, Hull City owner, Dr Assem Allam generously part-funded the development to create a centre of excellence in the care and treatment of patients with diabetes and metabolic bone diseases.

Located at the front of HRI and adjacent to the Women and Children’s hospital, the new centre occupies a prime location.  Its innovative, state-of-the-art design will contribute a positive first impression and an improved street scene on Anlaby Road.

Progress on Site

Following planning approval for this innovative healthcare architecture project earlier in June, construction is now well underway!

So far the foundations are complete and the full steel-work structure is out of the ground. You can see the striking main entrance coming to life with innovative shapes associated with the organs in the body affected by diabetes!

Next floors and cladding will start completing the façade to achieve the striking appearance designed.

Working closely with our construction partner Zenith Development Group with whom we have worked before, the project benefits from seamless integration between the contractor and design team to achieve such fast track progress on site.

Once completed in early 2021, it will help attract high calibre research staff and funding streams into the region.
