As bronze sponsors of the Hull and East Riding Children’s University, ACA recently welcomed a group of 12 children from Thorpepark Primary school to our office in Beverley giving them the exciting opportunity to step into the world of architecture. As the children excitedly entered the office, they were greeted with a warm welcome from Directors Alex and Amelia Caruso, and the team, who were eager to share their passion with our young visitors.
During the two and a half hour visit we started by talking about the different job roles within the office, followed by a bit of friendly competition, with a team building ‘spaghetti tower marshmallow challenge’ to encourage the children to explore the design process.
Director Alex, along with team members Sonia and Hazar enjoyed helping with the challenge and were even more competitive than some of the children!!

Later, the ACA design team delivered a presentation about what makes good design.
They then set a task to unleash the children’s creativity by designing their own school and presenting the results to us.
Throughout the day the children were encouraged to ask questions and share ideas. They learnt the importance of team work, problem solving and thinking outside the box.

Amelia Caruso says: “We were all really impressed with how well-behaved, engaged and interested the children were and their designs were amazing.”
ACA attends Kids Say Thank You event
As a company dedicated to corporate social responsibility, ACA then had the privilege of attending the ‘Kids Say Thanks’ event, which Hull and East Riding Children’s University organised to show their gratitude to their sponsors. The event was a celebration of the difference that sponsorship makes to the lives of the children.
Children from several different schools took part in planning the event and as we stepped into the venue, it was heart-warming to see the excitement on their eager faces.

By investing in the next generation we hope to shape individual lives and empower the children to pursue their passions and unlock their full potential, giving them confidence, resilience and a sense of possibility.
