At ACA community engagement is a core value and Alex Caruso recently exemplified this by volunteering with Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University, for which ACA are sponsors.
Alex joined a group of enthusiastic Year 4 students from Thorpepark Primary School for an unforgettable day of learning on a ‘Trawling from Hull’ experience.

The children had a fantastic time quizzing members of the public about Hull’s trawling history. One group was especially amazed when a man answered all their questions correctly — until they discovered he was a history teacher!
During the day, the children conducted research on computers in the KCOM Learning Zone and capped off their experience with a tour of Hull’s trawling monuments.
They were captivated by the rich history of their hometown, and for some, it was their first-ever visit to the city centre.

Reflecting on the experience, Alessandro said:
“It was a privilege to spend the day with such curious and eager young learners from Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s university. Hull has such a strong maritime heritage and it’s wonderful to see children connecting with this part of their city’s identity in such an interactive way. I hope it inspires them to dream big and think about the many opportunities available to them in the future.”
Last year, children from Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University visited ACA’s office to learn all about the world of architecture and interior design and will be joining us again in the near future!
At ACA, we believe in shaping not only inspiring spaces but also brighter futures. A huge thank you to Hull & East Yorkshire Children’s University for organizing such an impactful event and to Thorpepark Primary School for allowing us to be part of this fantastic journey.
Keep up to date with ACA news.
