ACA was appointed by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to undertake an important remodelling and extension project at Granville Court, a nursing home located in Hornsea.
Granville Court is a specialist nursing home for adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex physical health needs. Furthermore the home provides a dedicated nursing team including palliative and end of life care.
This project aligns with our dedication to designing spaces that enhance residents’ quality of lives and meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers.
The Brief
Principally, the aim is to extend and remodel the existing Granville Court premises to maximise the focus on the services it offers, whilst providing the existing bedroom capacity with added en-suite facilities and adequate access/egress associated with Covid-19 procedures, offering residents an improved quality of life.
The Design
ACA’s design focuses on a household model of care that complies with HBN guidance.
The proposed remodelling with a single storey extension has been designed to have a minimal impact on the site and to be sympathetic with the surroundings. Each home will be provided with an open plan kitchen and living area, laundry and sluice. The development will also host communal ancillary facilities, a visitor’s room and a large shared multi purpose room all on ground floor level.
From the onset, ACA has worked closely with Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to understand the unique requirements of the project and the particular needs of Granville Court’s residents and staff.
Our collaborative approach prioritises user-centered design, ensuring that every decision we make aligns with the values of the Trust and improves the experience of all who live, work, or visit Granville Court.
